Heading out to Applebee's for a casual dinner


Eating at Applebee's. Pei looks happy even though she has no idea what's about to happen.






On our way back to the car, I point to the nice looking hotel that is next door to Applebee's and suggest that we take a quick look. We take a look at the hotel's menu outside the back door for a minute and then i suggest we go in and take a look around. Only slight resistance from Pei as she sees the closed back door. I lead her in, and once inside we are looking at a staircase that goes up 2 floors. We go up the stairs, and Pei's resistance to invading private property grows stronger and she thinks I am starting to go crazy.

As we near the 3rd floor, I "find" a keycard on the ground. "Hey look!" The door to the 3rd floor is locked, so I "put two and two together" and use the keycard to unlock it. Once inside, Pei's adventurous spirit kicks in as we walk down the hallway and she starts looking around. I look at the back of the keycard and say outloud "hmm, 327....", and pretend to look for room #327. We find 327 at the end of the hall, and Pei stands back about 10 feet with a look of shock on her face while I go up and try the keycard in the door. It doesn't work. I turn the keycard around and try again.... green light!

Pei appears to be in shock and is fearful that someone will catch us, as I enter the room peeking my head in, and saying "hello? hello?". I then tell her no one's there, and to come in. She peeks in too, probably wondering why I am so confident. She smells flowers. She sees a long beautiful room with floral arrangements all over. I tell her to take a seat on the sofa. Had to tell her twice. ;)

I secretly reach into my pocket and get the ring out and into my hand. I sit down next to her and admit that I got the room for us. She says I'm evil. I say nope, I'm just in love. ;) She then realizes I bought all the flowers also, and goes over to the bed to smell one of them. I go over there, and she thanks me for renting a beautiful room, and asks why? I tell her, "because I have a question," and kneel down and hold up the ring. "Will you marry me?" Pei starts crying w/ the most joyful look on her face that I've ever seen, and I instantly knew it was all completely and totally worth it. "Really?!" We start hugging and kissing and I ask "so it's a yes?" "Yes yes!"









I later showed her the matching wedding band.




















Minor complication though.... Pei liked all the flowers so much that.....


...she had to hold them on the way home (two trips)!
